Alila Hotels welcomes Alila Yangshuo to Chinese hospitality

Alila Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of its second property in China, Alila Yangshuo.

Set among the Karst Mountains, rolling green hills and meandering rivers, Alila Yangshuo will open in July 2017.

It paves the way for an exciting journey into the area’s natural and cultural wonders.

Once a working sugar mill, Alila Yangshuo has been transformed into a modern, retro resort with 117 rooms, suites and villas combining stylish simplicity with exceptional comfort and convenience.

Located in Guilin, one of the world’s most dramatic landscapes and overlooking the Li River, Alila Yangshuo is a 1.2-hour drive from Guilin Liangjiang Airport and only a 30-minute car journey from the Yangshuo railway station.

Often regarded as one of the most beautiful counties in China, the resort town in the Guangxi region is surrounded by pinnacles including Bilian Feng (Green Lotus Peak) and offers a series of hiking trails, river cruises and outdoor activities.

It has been designed by Dong Gong of Vector Architects with interiors by award winning Ju Bin of Horizontal Space Design.

Much of the original architecture has been carefully incorporated into the design of Alila Yangshuo with the original sugarcane dock brilliantly transformed into the swimming pool.

For foodies, there is the signature restaurant – Sugar House – set in the original Sugar Pressing Room.

It will provide an all-day dining experience serving a selection of both Chinese and Western cuisine using local, fresh ingredients.

With an in-house rum distillery, the iconic 1969 Bar, has a modern, industrial feel.

Spa Alila is housed in a unique underground location, which is entered by a contemporary spiral staircase.

The walls and floors are made from underground volcanic rocks, unearthed during construction, which produce the jewelled hues in the cave-like interiors.

Other facilities at Alila Yangshuo include an outdoor swimming pool, a library, the Alila Living boutique, creative design spaces for up to 20 guests and a private pier for destination dining.
